Project Triple Threat - Staff Writer We hope this finds you well. Please be aware that our staff made a decision late this week to change our upcoming PTT tryout dates. Over the last week or so, we have received numerous reach outs from area families & players still competing in the CIAC state playoffs, but very interested in joining PTT. In order to be accessible and give everyone exposure to PTT tryouts, we think it's best to move the tryouts to a later date and host them at the conclusion of the Connecticut state boys basketball tournament. All this being said, please make note of the following DATE CHANGES:
Project Triple Threat - Staff Writer Following a successful second Club season of Project Triple Threat (PTT), there's plenty to talk about and promote. That said, this post marks the launch of a weekly wrap-up of everything PTT hoops. On Fridays moving forward, we'll highlight five of the more notable PTT news stories, accomplishments, and/or college commitments. Needless to say, we're excited about the platform we've built to this point; in two short years. Feel free to reach out with any feedback or suggestions. Enjoy.
1. PTT's Thomas recognized by New England Recruiting Report (NERR) as a Class of 2019 July Stock-Riser. NERR tracked their pre-July player rankings during the July 2018 Live period and with a load of college coaches out and about, a number of prospects not only lived up to a ranking, but improved their stock. PTT-Blue standout and current Williston Northampton post graduate, Tyler Thomas, was one of these stock risers. The 6-foot-3 combo guard impressed and has since seen his recruitment increase. Read the full write-up by here. 2. Seven PTT players get placed in New England Prep Schools. After another successful 2018 Club season, seven PTT players were recruited by and placed in numerous prep schools around New England. E.O. Smith sophomores, Carter & Hunter Meshanic, have enrolled at perennial NEPSAC Class B power, Kingswood-Oxford. Noah Delorme (Hopkins) and Ethan Okwuosa (North Haven) both declared sophomore reclassifications and now attend Choate Rosemary Hall (defending NEPSAC Class A champion) and NEPSAC Class AA notable, Cheshire Academy, respectively. PTT-Blue standouts, Tyler Thomas (Amity Regional) and John Kelly (formerly, Fairfield Prep) will play for co-COY, Ben Farmer, this year at Williston Northampton (NEPSAC Class A contender) while Xavier star, Jackson Benigni, will spend his next two years playing for former Division I assistant coach, Shawn Doherty, at conference champion, Hamden Hall. View the entire Prep transfer list by clicking here. 3. Cheshire Academy and PTT duo, Justin Allen and Eamon Fitzpatrick, impressed at NERR's Elite 75 Academic Experience. The second annual Elite 75 Academic Experience was recently held at the Brewster Sports Center in Brewster, NY and showcased many of the regions more academically qualified recruits in the 2019, 2020 and 2021 classes. 6-foot-9 senior frontline player, Justin Allen, and 6-foot-4 guard, Eamon Fitzpatrick, proved why they're two of the better academic prospects in the 2019 class. Read the full write up by clicking here. 4. In partnership with CBA (Connecticut BBall Association), PTT will host the 2018 Connecticut Youth Coaches' Clinic (November 11th, 4:00 pm). In 2018-19, Connecticut Basketball will, once again, return to Wesleyan, but also introduce its coaches to the approach of Choate head coach and Project Triple Threat (PTT) founding coach, Drew Dawson. “Coach Dawson's practices are unlike anything you've ever seen,” Connecticut Basketball President, Gary Collins, “he personifies innovation and will be a tremendous compliment to our preseason coaches clinic roster." The clinic is free to all area youth and HS basketball coaches. View the clinic and other PTT initiatives by clicking here. 5. The Project Triple Threat (PTT) platform continues to grow. As of July, we've worked with over 500 players and their families including several dozen student-athletes currently competing in college; at all levels. Currently, the PTT website currently gets a few thousand unique visitors per week from college coaches, hoops enthusiasts, players & parents, etc. We expect this to grow as we accelerate and continue to value-add on and off the court! We'd love your attention and encourage you to follow us on both Twitter & Instagram. You can also visit our Facebook here. All three provide a good overview of our platform, our athletes and coaches, and approach. #PTTHoops Project Triple Threat - Staff Writer The Project Triple Threat (PTT) basketball club was well-represented on the 2018 CIAC (Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference) All-State Team with six PTT players selected to either the First or Second Team. Big shout out to Jackson Benigni (Xavier), Ty Thomas (Amity), Tom Close (East Hampton), Brett Lequire (North Branford) for being named CIAC First Team, and Aaron Latham and Chavon George on making the CIAC Second Team. View the entire CIAC All-State team HERE.
